U.S. Orienteers at 2017 World Masters Orienteering Championships

The 2017 World Masters Orienteering Championships (WMOC 2017) took place April 23-29 in the Auckland area of New Zealand, in conjunction this year with the World Masters Games.

In the Sprint, best performances were Pavlina Brautigam's Gold medal in  W55, Sergey Velichko's Bronze in M55, and Sharon Crawford's Bronze in W70. Other top-ten finishes were Dennis Wildfogel's 5th in M70 (after winning his qualifying heat) and Linda Kohn's 7th in W65. Map link

After two days of qualifiers for the Long, the event culminated on Saturday, April 29 with a final at Hedley Dunes. The maps look extremely challenging, but rising to the challenge were Sharon Crawford, 3rd once again in the Long (W70); Pavlina Brautigam, 4th (W55), and Sergey Velichko, 6th (M55).
