2016 Golden Service Award Recipients

Olive Kearney - nominated by LAOC

Olive Kearney is rarely seen at orienteering these days, but she is still heard. Olive has been one of the most prominent orienteering promoters in Southern California for decades. Past member and webmaster for both Los Angeles and San Diego, Olive's biggest contribution has always been her enthusiasm for the sport. She continues to run her own website "The Thinking Sport" and the SCOnet Yahoo group. Both of these online endeavors bring orienteering news to the region and help regional clubs to better coordinate their scheduling efforts.

2015 Orienteering USA Competitive Award Winners announced

The Orienteering Awards are given to American orienteers in several categories for outstanding competitive performance over the course of the past year. The Awards Committee members are Patrick Nuss, Linda Kohn, Peter Gagarin, Boris Granovskiy and Peter Goodwin. The committee thanks all those who submitted nominations.This is the sixth year for these awards, but the first year that Orienteering USA members had the opportunity to vote for the candidates. The vote totals were used as one of the components in final award selection.

Gavin Wyatt-Mair

Gavin Wyatt-Mair was given a President’s Award because of his constant dedication to getting things done. When asked if it might be possible to hold a National Championship, he works to get it done. He works in the background and in the forefront of orienteering.

2015 IWA: Christopherson and Childs Win Travel Grants

TYRA CHRISTOPHERSON AND ETHAN CHILDS WIN $1,000 TRAVEL GRANTS AS IAIN WILSON CHARACTER THROUGH COMPETITION AWARDEES

Philadelphia, PA -- The Wilson Family, in partnership with Orienteering USA, is pleased to announce the winners of the second annual Iain Wilson Character Through Competition Award.

2014 Orienteering USA Competitive Award Winners announced

The Orienteering Awards are given for performance in orienteering. The Awards Committee members are Patrick Nuss, Linda Kohn, Peter Gagarin, Boris Granovskiy and Peter Goodwin. The committee thanks all those who submitted nominations.This is the fourth year for these awards.

The Orienteer, Junior and Comet of the Year award winners receive a $500 travel grant to help them continue to improve their skills. Links to lists of past winners are at the bottom of this article.

Clare Durand

Clare Durand received a President’s Award for her work as President of Orienteering USA and then, when she left the board, her continued work as the rules committee chair, re-writing the rules and updating them so that they are current, not historic.
