2014 Golden Troll Award Recipients

The Orienteering USA Golden Troll Award is designed to recognize those individuals who have provided exceptional service to the sport of orienteering that extends beyond the local club level.

2014 Silva Award Winner, Bob Turbyfill

Over the past five years this former North American Orienteering Champion and United States Champion has contributed at all levels to the mission of Orienteering USA.

2014 IWA: Bordelon and Stout Lead Wilson Award List

The selection committee is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Iain Wilson Character Through Competition Award. This award honors the memory of Iain Wilson by recognizing young athletes whose efforts in orienteering demonstrate this character. This year’s winners, Brigitte Bordelon (AOC, NTOA) and Matthew Stout (GAOC), will each receive a $1,000 travel grant. Isabel Bryant (NEOC) will receive a $500 travel grant.

2013 Orienteering USA Competitive Award Winners announced

The Orienteering Awards are given for performance in orienteering. A committee comprised of Boris Granovskiy, Patrick Nuss, Linda Worner, Peter Gagarin and Peter Goodwin collected nominations and then chose the winners. The individuals receiving these awards get a $500 travel grant to orienteering events. This is the third year for these awards.

2013 Silva Award Winner, Ken Walker, Jr

The candidates for this year's Silva Award were impressive. Jon Nash, past winner of the Silva Award and long time coordinator of the nominations said that this was the strongest field of candidates that he has seen in years. Those putting forth nominations this year might take note because if your candidate was not chosen this year, you may re-submit for next year's award.

2013 President's Awards

Jeff Saeger and Janet Porter were presented with Orienteering USA President’s Awards for their long time service to the Junior Orienteering Team. For many years, these two people were “the” people who made the team work.

2012 Orienteering USA Competitive Award winners announced


 

 

The Orienteering Awards Committee, made up of Linda Kohn, Patrick Nuss, Boris Granovskiy, Peter Gagarin, and Peter Goodwin, is pleased to announce the 2012 Orienteering Awards for outstanding performance at the national and international level.

2012 President's Award

The 2012 Orienteering USA President’s Award is presented to Tony Pinkham, Greg Walker and Ken Walker, Sr. for their leadership of the 2012 Ski Orienteering World Cup and accompanying Sierra Ski Orienteering Festival. These men had a combination of vision, leadership and flexibility in putting on this successful event, despite poor weather conditions before the event.  Orienteering USA recognizes the efforts of these three men as well as the countless hours put in by the event volunteers and the Bay Area Orienteering Club.
